Choreographer/Performer

Born in India, Deboleena Paul gained early recognition as a dance performer before her focus shifted to experimental choreography and research. She has done more than 200 dance performances on several prestigious stages, including India, Southeast Asia, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada. 

 

Deboleena became a choreographer on a large scale over 150 dance pieces performed in prestigious assignments to her credit in an illustrious career and commands a rich choreographic experience. She is currently working as a Dance Lecturer and Dance Unit Coordinator in the Department of Creative and Festival Arts at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad & Tobago.



Her choreography explores traditional repertoire, distinct elements of musicality, flow and spinal articulation. Dance encompass the identity and dignity of a culture. Stories that have the power to change the world and dance, a powerful tool to express oneself.

She views dance as a complete language a way to communicate and learn.
